Fish Fry begins Friday, February 24, 2012 - It'll be "All-You-Can-Eat" but this year it is buffet style in the banquet hall. We will serve fish from 5pm-9pm (or until the fish is gone). We will then be offering our normal menu from 9pm-11pm. The Tom Erickson Duo will provide music and ambiance for our diners.

Friday Night Fish Fry
Every Friday only during Lent, you can enjoy the fish fry at the American Legion in North St. Paul. The fish comes in two styles. There is the deep fried version and the baked version. Take-out is available.
The fish that is served during the Friday fish fry at the Legion is pollock. Atlantic pollock is considered to be a white fish, according to wikipedia. Pollack is a traditionally popular source of food in Norway. In the United States, pollock is largely consumed as an economic and versatile alternative to cod and haddock. In recent years, pollock has become popular in the United States and can now be found in most supermarkets as fresh fillets or prepared freezer items. In Germany, the fish is salted and smoked to achieve a salmon like orange color and is commonly sold as sea salmon.
"The secret to a good tasty fish dinner is it needs to be served hot," said Tom, Commander at the American Legion in North St. Paul. "So that's what we do. We make sure every fish dinner we serve here is nice 'n hot!"
According to Tom, "We here at the Legion talked to a lot of people and asked them what they thought made a good tasting fish dinner, and they said that some places over-spice the fish by over-spicing the batter. Here at the Legion, we planned our batter recipe to be the right combination so that it's not too spicy, but tasty, with the right amount of beer batter."
All of this and a whole lot more at YOUR North St. Paul American Legion!
